The Entire Spectrum Of Optical Analysis
INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS is among the most innovative companies in the field
of light measurement. One reason for our success is that we have focussed on specific areas of expertise. Below
is a brief outline of these major applications. Listed at the end of this section are
some of our customers
who's experience we draw upon to further engineer and refine our products.
| LED Analysis |

Since it is possible to manufacture LEDs in a wide variety of colors and brightness
(now including blue and white) it is also necessary to accurately measure their optical characteristics. Spectrometers
from INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS test luminous intensity, luminous flux, dominant wavelength and color coordinates. These
systems are suitable for either R&D applications or production testing. We also manufacture and stock a comprehensive
range of test sockets for all major LED packaging designs.
As the world leader in measuring the optical properties of LEDs, INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS offers years of experience,
innovative test accessories, and integration with high-speed handlers for production testing.
The SPECTRO 320 scanning spectrometer is used by major LED manufacturers for research and development
of the latest LED technology and for maintaining in-house calibration standards. For production testing, the CAS140B
CCD detector based array spectrometer, offers the high sensitivity and fast measuring times necessary.

Spectrometers from INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS accurately test LEDs in accordance
to CIE standards without the need for color-specific re-calibration as is necessary when using photometers. |

| Display Testing |
| |
|
Demands on displays are becoming more exacting in the communications
age. These devices are used for visualizing important information in industry as well as in public and private
life (computers, automotive engineering and avionics). INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS makes sure that both the radiance/luminance
and chromaticity are correct. A special configuration of the DTS series of instruments can test night vision compatible
displays according to MIL-L-85762A.

Our DTS320 series of Display Test Systems allow you to determine a luminance
of 0.1 cd/m² at a measuring-spot size of 150 µm in just a few seconds - and you can analyze the spectrum
and color at the same time.

INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS is very excited to be introducing the latest generation of
the DTS140-201 for display testing in the automotive, aerospace, and FPD markets. For this investment
level, this system is absolutely unrivalled and you are encouraged to compare its performance with products from
our competitors.
Are you manufacturing/using the same old displays - then why use the
same old spectrometer/photometer based on outdated technology? These are the benefits you get from the DTS series:
- the new Windows software, IS-SpecWin (see the Products section), is feature packed and also supports
many other applications described in this section to boost your productivity.
- the DTS140-201 uses a spectrometer based on a scientific-grade, back-illuminated CCD detector
that is Peltier cooled to -10oC. This means superb sensitivity and fast measurements.
- the DTS320-101 scanning spectroradiometer offers the highest accuracy and dynamic range. It
is the recognized reference system in the automotive industry that no competitor can match.

| NVIS Display Testing in accordance to MIL-L-85762A |
|
| |
|
|
For NVIS display testing, the DTS320-201 represents state-of-the-art technology. Using a unique approach, engineers have
created a system that not only meets or exceeds all required specifications - it is also extremely fast and is
the only truly portable system on the market. Combine this with the flexibility of a fiber-optic coupled telescope
head, and you have a system that can do measurements in a real environment (i.e. inside a cockpit).
For sure, there are cheaper and less advanced systems on the market,
but the DTS320-201 offers by far the best value in terms of price/performance and overall productivity. For
example:
- the powerful, new Windows software, IS-SpecWin, offering built-in
- spreadsheet that dynamically links to measurement data
- report template writer for custom reporting
- automation module to control other instruments and positioners
(via .dll)
- MIL-L-85762A nomenclature, with editable chromaticity and luminance targets for pass/fail analysis
- the modular/fiber-optic approach that allows you to also make calibrated
measurements with other accessories such as goniometers, integrating spheres, etc
- real portability

| Spectroradiometry
and Photometry |
| |
|
|
Spectroradiometry is the calibrated analysis of light from radiant sources, e.g.
the sun, lamps and other light sources. Photometry involves measurement of radiation visible to the human eye.
We deliver test setups for precise measurements of all existing radiometric, photometric and colorimetric parameters.
Applications include both R&D and quality assurance in the lighting industry, metrology labs, environmental
research, etc.
The systems necessary to support these applications are created by linking
the appropriate Accessory to a spectrometer using an optical fiber guide.

| Transmission
and Reflection |
| |
|
Spectrophotometry is the measurement of transmission and reflection. The applications
for this type of analysis are wide-ranging. Solutions from INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS are found in research (e.g. reflectivity
of solar cells), industrial quality assurance (e.g. coatings for filters and mirrors) and consumer-goods testing
(e.g. sun glasses, metallic paints).
INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS manufactures a goniometer for specular transmission and reflection and a range of integrating
spheres for diffuse transmission and reflection. |
The ability to measure a transmission or reflection spectrum in just a few
seconds provides significant advantages in view of the increasing standards for quality assurance. |
| |
|
| Polarization Analysis |
| |
|
A sophisticated system manufactured by INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS analyzes the polarization
properties of light sources, sensors, optical fibers and components. It is also essential for quality assurance
and production control of stress birefringence in the manufacture of glass and lenses.
The RPA2000 Real-time Polarization
Analyzer is being used around the world for general polarization measurements in telecommunications and optical
components. It allows fast and precise measurement of all 4 stokes parameters. Results are displayed in a user-friendly
form using an ellipse diagram and Poincaré sphere.
The PCT2000 Polarization Component Tester is used by manufacturers of optical components destined
for lithography machines that need to accurately determine stress birefringence. It is also being used for production
testing of waveplates - delivering independent, reproducible and fast results. Further applications include Jones
and Mueller Matrix determination of reflective polarizers using goniometric measurements (both in reflection and
transmission). |
The RPA2000 allows fast and precise polarization analysis. Results are displayed
in a user-friendly form using an ellipse diagram and Poincaré sphere. |
