Accurate Vehicle-based Headlamp Testing with the new STA Screen Photometer System

At this year’s International Symposium on Automotive Lighting (ISAL) in Darmstadt, Instrument Systems’ new STA Screen Photometer attracted great interest from experts in automotive exterior lighting. The system provides a fast and accurate solution for vehicle-based testing and benchmarking of headlamp performance.

The STA system consists of the latest generation LumiCam 4000B imaging luminance and colorimeter, a projection screen and the newly developed ACS 635 calibration source. The ACS 635 provides a high-intensity, homogeneous light source for photometric system calibration and a laser module for geometric alignment. Mounted on a traversing and swivel system, it allows flexible positioning and height adjustment in front of the vehicle.

Measurement control and analysis are performed using the STA Screen Photometer software. It supports screen calibration, measurement of luminous intensity and illuminance distributions, point evaluation, data export in IES or CSV format and visualization in isocandela diagrams or luminous flux.

With its modular setup, the STA system provides an efficient and reliable solution for vehicle-based headlamp testing, particularly for adaptive lighting functions.
