Colorimetric Characterization and Ambient Light Interference in Optical See-Through Near-Eye Displays

Ambient light remains one of the biggest challenges for optical see-through AR displays. Through quantitative measurements of a RayNeo X3 Pro OST-HMD using the LumiTOP 4000 AR/VR colorimeter, this paper demonstrates how environmental illumination can dramatically reduce color gamut, contrast, and color fidelity. The results provide valuable insights into the metrology of OST-HMDs and highlight compensation strategies for maintaining color consistency in real-world AR applications.
