Have you ever wanted to buy an LED lamp, but were confused by the data on the packaging? With a few technical explanations you will know what you need to be aware of.
Whenever we had to replace a light bulb we went to the store and bought, for example, a 60 watt bulb – it sufficed to know the wattage. In contrast, the packaging of today's LED lamps contains further information. But what does 600 lumens actually mean for this kind of lamp? Will a LED lamp specified for 5 watts be OK for the proposed use, or would the 10 watt model be better? How bright is the lamp really? Does is produce a cold or warm light? How big is its light cone?
