As µLEDs and microdisplays continue to shrink while pixel density increases, optical metrology must balance high spatial resolution with sufficient field of view. This presentation reviews camera-based measurement solutions and compares representative camera and lens configurations for different applications. A hybrid calibration approach combining camera color calibration with an ISO 17025 traceable reference spectrometer is introduced to achieve accurate luminance and color measurements. The measured tristimulus values are used to propagate calibration across the full 2D image. The talk also explains why conventional tristimulus filter colorimeters can produce significant chromaticity errors for narrowband µLED emitters and how these challenges can be addressed.
