Twenty years after its initial launch, the latest generation of LightCon software is now available. For two decades, LightCon has served as the central control software for Optronik Line AMS and SMS Type A goniophotometer systems and their associated accessories. It supports the measurement and type testing of automotive lighting—from statutory approval and development testing to quality assurance and Conformity of Production (CoP) testing.

Over the years, Instrument Systems has continuously enhanced LightCon by adding new features, expanding hardware compatibility, and keeping pace with evolving regulations. With the release of LightCon 3.0, users benefit from a modernized software platform with improved performance and expanded functionality.

Key highlights include:

  • A new regulatory database covering the latest ECE regulations—from ECE R1 to R123, including the new ECE R148, R149, and R150 regulations introduced as part of the GTB regulatory simplification project.
  • The latest North American FMVSS 108 regulatory database.
  • A modernized user interface with improved performance, including real-time zoom and pan functionality.
  • Enhanced visualization of light distributions with interactive zooming and significantly faster rendering.
  • Bird's-eye visualization of the plane of maximum luminous intensity, representing the maximum headlamp range.
  • Improved overlay capabilities for comparing the planes and grids of different headlights.
  • Integration of new hardware, including support for calibrated screen photometry using the LumiCam 2400B and LumiCam 4000B.
  • Expanded functionality for airfield lighting applications in accordance with FAA and ICAO requirements.

With LightCon 3.0, Instrument Systems continues to provide a powerful, comprehensive, and intuitive software platform for testing automotive lighting, retroreflectors, airfield lighting, warning lamps, and other directional light sources.
